The Weatherford Optimist Tackle Football Program was started to give our youth a chance to further develop their football skills and learn the rules of football and good sportsmanship. The football program is for boys in the 5th-6th grades. IN PERSON REGISTRATION June 25, July 16, and July 23, AT CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH from 9am to Noon each day. Evaluations and draft schedule to be announced.

SKILLS EVALUATION & DRAFT

After registration, we will have a weekend of skills evaluations to closely match player capabilities. Coaches will then draft the players of their choice.

10 WEEKS OF PLAY

The tackle teams play on 10 consecutive Saturdays in order to be seeded for the tournament on the last Saturday at Kangaroo Stadium.

WEEKLY PRACTICE

Your coach and team will determine the best number of times to practice each week and at what time.

VOLUNTEER COACHES

All of our coaches and their assistants are volunteers. If you would like to sign on as a coach, register online. We provide thorough background checks on all volunteer staff.

TACKLE PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT

TOY BOWL

Admission to the tournament is a new unwrapped toy. Toys will be donated to a local community service organization. In 2017 toys were donated to the Freedom House of Parker County. Freedom House provides services and support for women who have experienced violence.
