THE PURPOSE OF THE OPTIMIST CLUB

To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; To aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.

Each fall, Weatherford's youth take to the field and sidelines to learn good sportsmanship, optimism, and the basics of football and cheer.

Optimist programs and community projects are at the heart of everything we do.

Youth Sports

The Optimist Club provides area youth an opportunity to participate in football & cheer - teaching kids teamwork and sportsmanship.

Youth Appreciation

Build students self esteem by recognizing their talents and those who have made a change for the better and to honor deserving youth. We recognize junior and high school students 4 times per year.

Optimist Scholarship Contests

Essay and Oratorical contests provides youth the opportunity to express their views, gain experience in public speaking and give opinions on the world in which they live.

Communication Contest for the Deaf & hard of hearing

The CCDHH contest provides an opportunity for young people to communicate in a public forum while developing valuable skills and confidence.

Optimist Golf

As one of junior golf's most prestigious events, the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships provide a unique opportunity for junior golfers around the globe.

Childhood Cancer Campaign

Building awareness of the disease that kills more children than any other in North America.
